1. Background

Nepal is a landlocked country bordering India in the south, east, and west and China in the north. It is one of the poorest countries. It is the home of 30 million people from 125 ethnic groups. Nepal has growing churches. There are 2.34 per cent estimated Christian population. The average church growth is 13 per cent.

Livingstone Ministry Nepal has been serving over 100 churches to fulfil the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ. Training the pastors and church leaders, carrying on a wholistic mission, Discovery Bible Study, Ministry outreach, missionary support and planting churches are the major serving areas of the ministry.

Cornerstone Church is the strategic church of the Ministry because of the leadership and service it provides to all the churches in Nepal. Cornerstone Church has been leasing a piece of land in the Kathmandu Valley, where we have built a temporary Shelter for the church services and ministry support.

Everything was going well. However, many churches are challenged and persecuted due to Extreme Hindu Groups' anti-Christian activities in Nepal. We are also affected due to it. Since we do not own the land and it is leased. Pressure is being put on the land owner to remove the church from his land. We had a year contract, which is finishing in 2023. We were supposed to extend the lease, but due to pressure from Hindu groups and anti-Christian activities in Nepal, the land owner asked us to leave his land and he won’t extend the contract. We have been searching for a new place to move to but could not find the place. “If you are asking us to provide our land on lease to build a church, we cannot provide you. We do not give you land to build a church.” We received these remarks from everywhere.

We have to move out of the landowner’s property by the end of June 2024. We are facing a great challenge for the ministry. We have been praying to God. He led us to a piece of land with 508 sq meters. We must buy land to sustain our ministry, reduce pressure and persecution from Hindu groups and remain in an accessible place to grow the ministry.

2. Purpose

The main purpose is to sustain the Livingstone Ministry in Nepal. The space will provide a platform to serve the churches, conduct training and support community services in Kathmandu and all the ministry areas. Kathmandu is the only place connected to most of the places in Nepal. Transportation is easier and possible to most area of Nepal. The land will provide a foundation to operate from Kathmandu to reach both ministry areas and unreached areas.

The second purpose of buying land is to construct a community centre which will serve Lord Jesus Christ through Cornerstone Church Kathmandu.

3. Major Services

The major Services of the Centre are as below:

i. Worship Service led by Cornerstone Church.

ii. Pastoral Support through the Preaching Club, Pastoral Training and Guidance led by Livingstone Ministry Nepal.

iii. Training Centre for Discipleship and Leadership Training led by Livingstone Nepal.

iv. Livingstone Ministry Mission Office for administration, documentation and workspace for ministers.

v. Youth Centre for local youths through Library, Indoor Games, Digital Corners, Career Counselling and support as part of Evangelism led by Cornerstone Church.

vi. Children’s Club through free tuition for poor children, library, storytelling, indoor games and digital corners led by Cornerstone Church.

4. Management:

The overall management of the centre will be led by Cornerstone Church and Livingstone Ministry Office in Kathmandu. Cornerstone Church will be the primary responsible institution for the centre.

5. Estimated Cost

God led us to a place where the land has been put on sale. It is cheaper than the market price. The market price in the area is USD 45000 per 31.79 sq meter. But we found a piece of land in USD 22000 per 31.79 sq meter. The land is 508sq meters, which will cost around USD 352,000.
