Thailand Tribal Missions: Full Steam Ahead!

The Province of Chiang Rai in the Golden Triangle of Northern Thailand bordering both Laos and Myanmar is a dynamic region of natural beauty, colour, multiculturalism and fast development. Two million tribal people have crossed borders and made Chiang Rai their home and the opportunities for outreach are amazing.

AFA has enabled the Lutheran Church of Thailand to begin mission work there starting from scratch. By now 500 people have added to the kingdom of heaven! It is abundantly clear that AFA has been a key factor in this amazing development – the hard work and financial sacrifices by our supporters. Thankfully now others join in – Finns, Singaporeans, Norwegians and Japanese – but the lion’s share still rests on our shoulders.

Here we see Ralph, Frank, Julie, Rhoda, Ross, Gay, Noel, Karen, August and other Aussies mixing with colourfully dressed Akha tribe people as well as children from our Ethnic Children’s Home (in green). A mission trip is for everyone and can be lots of fun. Why just go on an ordinary tourist trip like so many people do? Why not come with us on a trip of purpose – and be inspired?
